Alabuga International SchoolBiography
My credo — Simplify and Integrate. Began as a Research Assistant, achieving breakthroughs in gene-activated bone grafts and 3D bioprinted tumor models. Transitioned to a Biotechnology Project Manager role with a focus on workforce development, guiding innovative STEM projects. Mentored students in developing 'SkinSaver,' a skin regeneration solution with real-world applications, and using decellularized spinach leaves for biofabrication. Crafted lab designs based on the "Pedagogy-Space-Technology" framework for K-12 and vocational training.
Expertise
Curriculum Development: Designed modern biotechnological curriculum for PYP and MYP students, incorporating Complexity Sciences, DST, and Constructivism for cell and gene therapy education;
Facility Coordination: Coordinated construction of a biotechnological facility for workforce development, managing project plans, timelines, and liaising with professionals to meet industry standards;
Portfolio Contest Jury: Evaluated 8 project portfolios at “Alabuga Biotech 2023” contest, mentoring participants to develop three scalable products and resulting in one team receiving a $15,000 entry grant;
Student Project Mentorship: Mentored students on projects like 'SkinSaver' and decellularized spinach leaves for biofabrication, ensuring projects were completed on time and within budget;
Biomedical Summer Camp: Created and led a Biomedical Engineering summer camp focusing on bioprinting and microfluidics technology;
Intern Development: Implemented a performance improvement plan (PIP) for an underperforming intern, elevating him from Wood/Bronze League to Gold League and achieving 100% on IB certification.
I leveraged the double-cassette VEGF165-BMP2 DNA plasmid. I assessed the plasmid’s potential to form blood vessels and bone in cell cultures, measured by alkaline phosphatase activity in transfected rat MSCs (30% increase). The propensity to form vessel-like structures doubled. The plasmid activity was also confirmed with ELISA, qPCR, and RT-PCR;
I developed a gene-activated collagen-hydroxyapatite bone graft with the plasmid encoding VEGF-A and BMP2. The
