Mina Vaez is a researcher and academic in biomedical engineering, currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry. Born in Tehran, she began her academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology, graduating in 2016. She earned a Master's degree in Biomaterial Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2019, where she developed innovative wound dressings.
In 2020, Mina joined the Bozec Lab at the University of Toronto. Her Ph.D. research focuses on collagen crosslinks in skin tissue engineering, particularly developing skin substitutes with active permeation properties. Her work has been presented at international conferences and published in journals such as Acta Biomaterialia and Frontiers in Aging.
Mina has strong leadership and mentorship skills, having supervised several undergraduate students and guided them to success in scientific presentations, with some winning first place in faculty competitions. She has held leadership roles, including President of the Graduate and Post-Graduate Dental Students Society and VP of Learning and Development for Graduate Super Women Engineers at the University of Toronto.
